How we can help
Have you thought about volunteering for a not-for-profit organisation in the southern suburbs of Adelaide or Fleurieu Peninsula but you’re not sure how to go about it?
Southern Volunteering (SA) Inc collects information from volunteer-involving organisations across the southern Adelaide region including the Fleurieu Peninsula. These not-for-profit organisations provide Southern Volunteering (SA) Inc with information on the volunteer roles they have and their requirements.
We offer individuals interested in finding out about volunteering options a no-obligation, informal appointment to discuss volunteering options. One of our team will work with you to find suitable opportunities based upon the time you have available, the type of work you would like to do, the skills you have to offer, or the experience you wish to gain and any other requirements you may have. The informal process provides you with the opportunity to be presented with the range of volunteering options available and for us to find out more about you and offer a choice of suitable positions. The appointment generally lasts between 30 – 60 minutes.
Individuals interested in volunteering can take the first step by contacting us at either of our offices in Christies Beach or Victor Harbor to arrange a time to meet with one of our Volunteer Referral Officers.
Why do people volunteer?
People volunteer for a number of different reasons, ranging from a desire to learn new skills, gain credible work experience, have fun, help others, form new friendships, develop and maintain self-esteem and to become more involved in their local community. Others may also be looking to fulfil Centrelink obligations. Some people volunteer on a regular basis, whilst others simply wish to volunteer when they can within the demands of work, family and lifestyle. The time and commitment required to be a volunteer varies with each position.
Southern Volunteering (SA) Inc aims to offer training opportunities for all active volunteers in the community and professional development opportunities for Volunteer Managers and Coordinators.
