Discussing The Decline
Volunteer recruitment is one of the biggest challenges facing volunteer-involving organisations (VIOs) today. This timely resource unpacks why volunteer numbers are proving difficult to grow, and what can be done about it.
Developed from extensive interviews, forums and surveys with VIOs, and supported by state and national research, Discussing The Decline shines a light on what’s changed and the impacts on the volunteering sector. Most importantly, it offers fresh, practical ideas to help VIOs adapt their volunteer opportunities and connect with the potential volunteers of 2025.
Onkaparinga Volunteer Conversations Event Summary
In May 2025, Southern Volunteering (SA) Inc held an event which aimed to examine why volunteer numbers are in decline within the City of Onkaparinga. A summary of the experiences and insights of the people who attended was published in June 2025.
Regional Research Report Launched
In May 2025, Southern Volunteering (SA) Inc launched the report ‘Regional Volunteering Perspectives: Experiences from the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island’.
The repor uncovers the nuances of how volunteers engage with programs in regional areas, as well as examine the diversity of regional volunteer workforces.
